The SMP project was initiated by the Government of PEI in response to the State of the Coast and Interim Coastal Policy Recommendations Reports, developed by the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Prince Edward Island.
These reports acknowledge PEI’s increasing coastal vulnerability, made evident during post-tropical storms Dorian and Fiona, and highlight the importance of increasing our resilience in the face of a changing climate. The development of shoreline management plans for PEI is an important part of building a more resilient Island into the future.
Interim Coastal Policy Recommendations ReportThe Pilot SMP project is co-funded through the Government of PEI’s Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action and the Government of Canada’s Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) Climate Resilient Coastal Communities Program.
